How do I apply for a tax-exempt purchase?
If your organization or business is tax-exempt, you can apply to have sales tax removed from your account and future orders.
Who qualifies for tax exemption?
Tax-exempt status is typically available for:
-
Resellers: Businesses purchasing products for resale with a valid Resale Certificate.
-
Nonprofit Organizations: 501(c)(3) or other registered charitable entities.
-
Government & Educational Institutions: Public schools, state universities, and government agencies.
-
Other Qualifying Entities: Any organization with a state-issued tax-exempt certificate.
Note: Requirements vary significantly by state.
Before you apply
To avoid delays in the review process, please ensure:
-
The Entity Name on your account matches the name on your tax-exemption certificate.
-
The document is fully completed, signed, and dated (if required by your state).
-
The certificate is for the correct state where the orders will be shipped.
How to apply
-
Prepare your documents: Have your tax-exemption or resale certificate ready in PDF or image format.
-
Verify account details: Ensure your shipping address and company info are up to date.
-
Submit for review: [Contact our support team] to upload your documents.
Review Timeline: Please allow 3–5 business days for our team to verify your status. You will receive a notification once your account has been updated for tax-exempt shopping.
Important: Applying after placing an order
- Pending Orders: If you place an order before your exemption is approved, sales tax will be charged. We may be able to cancel the order and allow you to reorder once approved, provided the order has not moved to production.
-
Confirmed/Shipped Orders: Once an order is processed, sales tax is recorded for state filing. At this stage, we are generally unable to refund sales tax.
Does my status expire?
Your tax-exempt status remains active until the expiration date listed on your certificate. If no expiration date is provided, we may require a renewed document every 12 months to remain compliant with state audit requirements.
